Use Linux the same you're using Windows, for example. Can you use Windows if you don't know aything about it? We seriously doubt that. Gnu/Linux is an Unix-like operating system. What are we using it for? Some use it as desktop, others as servers, gateways, DNS, web server, clusters, routers and the list could go on. We strongly believe Linux is not an operating system made for amusement or fun. It is mostly use for technical purposes or routine IT activities.

To use it, you have to know it. As any other OS out there. Without a bit of knowledge it could be considered useless.
